Homemade Chocolate Chips
Store bought chocolate chips often contain “flavours”, soy lecithin, less than desirable sweeteners AND are pretty dang expensive!
Making your own is super quick and seriously econcomical.
Use high quality ingredients for the best chocolate chips you’ve ever had!
Servings:
250g approx.
My mould* made 468 choc chips
Ingredients
1 1/3 cup Cacao Butter
1 1/3 cup Cacao Powder
½ cup Maple Syrup
1 tsp Vanilla Extract, optional
Method
Heat a few centimetres of water in small saucepan and place a heat proof bowl on top on the saucepan (ensuring the water does not touch the bowl).
2. Add cacao butter and allow to melt. Stir in cacao powder with a whisk or spatula. Add maple syrup and vanilla. Stir to combine.
3. Pour mixture into moulds* and place in freezer to set (you could also place in the refrigerator if room is an issue).
4. Once set, pop out of mould and keep in a jar/container in a cool dark place (store refrigerated if in a warm climate).
*I used a silicone mould that has 468 holes (ordered from amazon), I placed this on a baking tray for easy transfer to the freezer.
If you do not have a mould, you can simply pour mixture into a container and cut with a knife once set into chip sized portions.
