Toasted Buckwheat & Tahini Chocolate
If you’re a rich chocolate lover,
then this recipe is for you!
The tahini in this recipe creates that melt in your mouth moment
and the toasted buckwheat creates that perfect crunchy texture.
If you’re new to tahini, it is simply ground sesame seeds, making it a healthy whole food ingredient. You can get hulled where the seed’s shell has been removed or unhulled where the she shell is kept whole.
If you’re new to trying, start with hulled as it is creamier and the flavour is more subtle. Unhulled is slightly more nutritionally beneficial with more calcium and fibre, but it does have more of a harsher bitter taste.
Tahini has many nutritional benefits, here’s just two reasons I LOVE it:
High in anti-inflammatory monounsaturated healthy fats!
Rich in antioxidants, which is important for free radical damage and oxidative stress.
Servings: 280 grams - 28 squares
Serving size of 20g or 2 squares.
Ingredients
¼ cup Raw Buckwheat
½ cup Cacao Powder
½ cup Tahini
½ cup Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Method
1. Heat a small frying pan and add buckwheat, cook until toasted, approximately 3 – 5 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, in a separate small saucepan, combine all remaining ingredients.
3. Stir on a low heat, until all ingredients are melted.
4. Pour mixture into moulds or a large container, sprinkle with toasted buckwheat and refrigerate.
5. Once set, cut into squares or grab as you desire. Enjoy!
